Manual Lymph Drainage Massage (MLD) is an extremely gentle technique that stimulates the lymphatic system and assists to remove congestion and stagnation from within the body.  It is a specialised technique performed by therapists with extra qualifications.  The therapist works with flat hands, using all the fingers to simulate gentle, specific wave-like movements. The movements are rhythmic and circular and the pressure applied is no more than nine ounces per square inch.  This subtle and manual pumping action activates lymph and interstitial fluid circulation, as well as stimulating the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems.  It reduces oedema (swelling) and lymphedema of various origins.  MLD aids in the removal of metabolic waste and accelerates the detoxification process from such processes such as fasting, dieting, tobacco withdrawal and toxic chemical poisoning to name some.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage as mentioned above, is a specialised treatment that requires additional qualifications.  If you’re interested in lymphatic drainage, please ensure that your massage therapist is fully trained in this technique, just like your therapist is at Bodyscope Health.  Many offer this service although they aren’t appropriately qualified, thus resulting in ineffective results.
